Spostare una VM su un Datastore diverso in VMWare ESX

Se non si ha VSphere, per spostare una VM su un altro Datastore, bisogna per forza spegnerla e fare delle operazioni manuali

Step 1: Power Off VM

• Log in to the web console.

• If you don't detach devices from resources, the VM may not come up after migration. Eject virtual CDs and detach virtual USB drives.

• Shutdown the guest OS and power off the the VM

Step 2: Unregister VM

• Right click the VM > Unregister This will remove the VM from the inventory.

Step 3: Move Datastore

• Storage > Choose the VM's datastore > Datastore browser > Right click relevant folder of the VM > Move

• Choose destination datastore.

• Wait for the move to complete.

Step 4: Register VM

• Storage > Choose the destination datastore > Register a VM > Choose the .vmx file > Register

• While prompted choose I moved

• This will add the VM to the inventory.

Step 5: Power ON VM

• Power ON the VM and chill :)
